Review of Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear

So the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear was a lot of fun and I'm glad I was able to go! I hope that this blog helped encourage people to come, while informing them about the national rallies and satellite rallies around the globe.
A lot of people were not able to to make phone calls, send text messages, or use 3G at the rally due to what was probably an overload of service, which is why I stopped updating this site and Twitter.

Anyway, there are rumors that the national Rally had over 500000, or a half a million people in attendance, which is a huge number. I just know that people were all the way at the end of the National Mall, well past the Washington Monument.

I hope that everyone that went to the rally's had a lot of fun and came away with the knowledge that there are also other people out there who are sick of the extreme rhetoric on the far right and left and the ridiculous scare tactics of our mass media.
Just remember that moderates are the majority. Most people may try to align themselves with Republicans or Democrats, but they are not extreme on either side. As we saw at the rally, maintaining sanity will allow everyone to work together that much easier, and it will create a much more pleasant environment. I am 100% positive that people disagreed with each other at the Rally to Restore Sanity, but if they did they were able to act intelligent about it and not continue a war of hate that has been perpetuated by the extremists on either side of the table.

Pictures of the Rally to Restore Sanity Setup

The Colbert Rally page has posted pictures of the setup for the rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear online here.
By the looks of it they have a large stage set up on the mall with 2 huge Restore Sanity and/or Fear signs on the side. There is heavy lighting set up, as would likely be seen in a concert.
So for any of those people that somehow thought this was not going to happen, here is your proof. The photos will be updated as they come in and I am sure other sites will have photos as well, especially the day of.
This rally is going to be the most fun I have had in DC in a long time and I hope to see everyone there!

Keep checking back for any last minute updates and/or notifications and don't forget to check out the National Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear Schedule!!

Chicago Rally

I never thought I would say this, but Chicago's rally is bigger than the biggest rally in Texas!
The Chicago rally will take place in Grant Park on October 30th from 11AM-2PM local time. The rally organizers have raised over $15000 and are looking for more donations to make this one of the most memorable events Chicago has hosted all year!
The rally is currently boasting almost 6000 perspective attendees, the most of all the satellite rallies I have seen so far. One thing is for sure, and that is that October 30th 2010 will be a day Chicagoan's remember for years to come!
The Facebook page containing all the updates and information on the rally can be found here.

Keep checking back for the latest on the national rally and satellite rallies around the country!

The Golden Gate of Sanity

San Francisco is restoring sanity on October 30th at the Civic Center, in what looks to be a great event. Not only will their rally be taking place during the national rally, but there will be an additional three hours of comedians, guest speakers, a flash dance party, and a costume contest! There will also be an appearance made by the San Francisco Mime Troupe.
With over 2600 people planning to attend, this satellite rally looks to be a blast. They are still accepting donations to cover the costs of the fantastic activities and guests scheduled to be at the rally. Information on how to donate can be found on their site, linked below.

Announcing The Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear

Tonight on The Daily Show Stephen Colbert appeared, saying that he wanted to join forces with Jon Stewart because he "couldn't get a permit for the National Mall". They name this joint rally "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear."
Oprah appears on the wall behind them and expresses her support for the rally, having the audience look under their seats and produce airline tickets to the rally.
